CPU Tech's New Processor Core Tops Five Billion Instructions Per Second

CPU Tech announced the general availability of its new 256 bit processor core capable of executing more than 5 billion instructions per second - clearly among the world's fastest processors.

CPU Tech is widely recognized as an industry leader in the production of compatible system-on-a-chip (SOC) modules for high reliability embedded computers The company's unique automated development and validation process, AutoVX™, includes a library of reconfigurable design frameworks that help to reduce the risk and the cost of developing compatible SOCs. With the addition of this new core to its library, CPU Tech can produce SOCs that will run a wide range of instruction sets at very high performances.

The new processor core will enable CPU Tech to create advanced SOCs that target such compute intensive applications as communications processing, encryption algorithms and sensor and image processing.

System-on-a-chip is the next generation of computer technology, "beyond the microprocessor." SOC technology can reduce the number of components in a system 100:1 or more by integrating numerous microprocessors and hundreds of support chips into a single part. The result is that power use, size and weight are dramatically reduced while performance and reliability are substantially increased.

AutoVX makes it possible for CPU Tech to develop a broad range of compatible embedded system solutions at much lower cost and with far less risk than its competitors and to guarantee binary compatibility and life-cycle support for its products.

The company has recently announced a number of major contracts to apply its technology to modernize existing systems by inserting SOC modules, a process they call Validated Modernization™. The process has been shown to be capable of rapidly paying for itself in reduced maintenance costs while increasing performance and totally protecting the investment in system software and tools.

CPU Tech is a rapidly growing, privately owned, embedded systems company headquartered in Pleasanton, California. Its customers are commercial and governmental organizations that manufacture or use high-reliability embedded systems.
