| AutoVX™ Provides a Permanent Solution to Multiple Sourcing of Electronic Components
PLEASANTON, California – CPU Tech announces the general availability of its AutoVX system design and validation process. Developed from an intensive 10-year R&D effort, AutoVX automates the process of generating and validating a system design so that it can be readily fabricated by a number of manufacturers both now and in the future. AutoVX includes a business practice by which CPU Tech places a complete design and test package in an escrow account so that even if the Company were ever to be unable or unwilling to provide a product, the customer would have alternative sources of supply. In describing AutoVX, CPU Tech Vice President Richard Comfort stated, "This process not only provides a high level of assurance to the customer that there are multiple sources of supply, but also provides long term protection against obsolescence. The key distinction between CPU Tech's solution to the modernization of embedded systems and all other solutions is that CPU Tech owns and controls all the intellectual property used in its processor modules. This means that in the event that a given foundry technology should no longer be available anywhere in the world, the design can be readily scaled to an available technology and manufactured cost-effectively. AutoVX was put to a crucial test last year when CPU Tech was able to deliver prototype CPU1750A-60 chips to Honeywell DAS (Albuquerque, NM) for USAF's CCIP upgrade of the F-16 "in time and in budget," in spite of the fact that its foundry of choice abruptly announced its exit from the digital business. Thanks to its foundry-process independent design, CPU Tech was able to transition to Epson America with minimal impact on schedule and none on budget. CPU Tech has been rated an "Excellent Supplier" by Honeywell. CPU Tech is also applying AutoVX to its recently announced COSSI program to modernize a critical F-16 radar system. And it will be at the heart of other new programs in the future. Automation of the validation process is the key element in CPU Tech's capabilities. The Company has invested countless man-hours and millions of dollars to develop technology whereby they can provide very high assurance that a processor or a circuit board or an entire system is precisely compatible with another processor, board or system. Thorough testing of even a fairly simple system typically requires a billion or more bytes of test code. Other methods of producing that code would require thousands of programmer-years. CPU Tech's automated process saves tens of millions of dollars of engineering costs. This technology makes it possible for CPU Tech to develop compatible embedded system solutions at a much lower cost and with far less risk than its competitors and to guarantee binary compatibility and life-cycle support for its products. CPU Tech is a rapidly growing, privately owned, embedded systems company headquartered in Pleasanton, California. Its customers are commercial and governmental organizations that manufacture or use high-reliability embedded systems. |
