Another Major System-on-a-chip Program Win for CPU Tech

PLEASANTON, California – CPU Tech has announced that it has won a new program to modernize airborne radar computers used on hundreds of F-16 aircraft. CPU Tech will produce "modernization kits" that will dramatically reduce maintenance costs and increase the reliability of the radar system, currently USAF's number 1 maintenance problem in terms of Operations & Support costs. The program will save USAF more than $90 million in maintenance costs over the first 11 years of the program and has a potential value of nearly $100 million to CPU Tech. The privately held Pleasanton company has announced more than $245 million in new programs since December, 1999.

CPU Tech's solution to obsolescence issues is unique and permanent. Through the application of the world's most advanced COTS technology, AutoVX™, an existing system can be "scaled" automatically. This reduces the number of components by more than 100:1, eliminates obsolete parts, increases performance and provides open system architecture - all without any negative impact on the operation of existing system software. "AutoVX eliminates the trap of replacing one obsolete component with another that will itself be obsolete in the near future," according to Ed King, CPU Tech CEO. By virtue of its industry-leading validation and verification process, CPU Tech can guarantee binary compatibility with the existing system. And it will commit to providing long term system support.

The program is funded by the Commercial Operations and Support Savings Initiative, a joint program of the armed services and the Secretary of Defense, that develops and tests methods for reducing military operations and support costs. In Stage I of the program, CPU Tech will develop the modernization kit. In Stage II, kits will be purchased by the F-16 Logistics Operations Division at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden, Utah and by other F-16 owners around the world.

CPU Tech is the industry leader in the development and production of compatible embedded computers optimized for customer's applications. Its automated development and validation process makes it possible to provide high reliability compatible system-on-a-chip solutions with less risk and at lower cost than its competitors.

CPU Tech is headquartered in Pleasanton, California. It was founded in 1989. Its customers include Fortune 500 companies and the U.S. Government
